Forgettable (but enjoyable!) Books — Top Ten Tuesday

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is about books we’ve read and liked, but cannot remember anything about. As always, this is a weekly tag created by the bloggers from The Broke and the Bookish and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.

At first I thought this was a strange prompt, after all, how can you forget a book if you’ve liked it?!? But then I started thinking and scrolling through my Goodreads “read” shelf and boy oh boy!

TTT 23rd Jan 2018

As it turns out, compulsive readers’ minds work in very funny ways. There are so many great books out there that we tend to pick one up right after we’ve put down another. And sometimes we stay up late when we’re already tired and in a I’m-here-but-I’m-not-actually-here state that we might as well just be reading the same page over and over again. And if it wasn’t enough, people sometimes distract us from our readings which makes us lose track of what’s happening! The audacity…

Keep on reading to see what books I liked when I read them but can’t remember much (or anything) about now.

Bookish Resolutions — Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by the ladies who blog at The Broke and the Bookish  and is now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s theme is “Bookish Resolutions and Goals,” which is perfect for what I have been meaning to share with you, readers of my posts!

Top Ten Tuesday

As you may know, I’m a very ambitious person when it comes to reading. Every year I write down my bookish resolutions and do my best to complete all of them—although sometimes this doesn’t work and I end up dropping my goals halfway into the year. This year, however, I will do my best to do some changes—to stick to my resolutions, and to branch out those resolutions.

Without further ado, here are my ten bookish resolutions for the New Year (well, not that new anymore…)

Favorite Graphic Novels and Comics (Top Ten Tuesday)

A genre I tend to read very little of is graphic novels/comics. I don’t know why, they have a lot of things that draw me to them but I end up archiving them on my ‘to-be-read’ shelves and rarely end up reading them.

However, the ones that I have read I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. Moreover, this year of 2017 has revealed to be the one in which I read more books in these two genres, in part thanks to NetGalley and some publishers for sending me digital review copies.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted as per usual by The Broke and The Bookish, is dedicated to graphic novels and comics and I’m taking this chance to share which books I’ve read in the past and loved.

My Childhood In Books (Top Ten Tuesday)

In today’s Top Ten Tuesday, a weekly meme created by the lovely girls over at The Broke and The Bookish, I want to share with you the books (and authors) that had the biggest impact in me as an eight to twelve year-old bookworm. You can see a specimen of the species Childus Bookwormus aged five in her natural habitat below, she had been interrupted while feeding on her daily dose of fiction.

I’d like to take this opportunity and own up to my privilege. I grew up in a family that had enough money and other means to support my love of books and was actively interested in cultivating this habit in me. I am thankful for it every single day.

I also want to thank the authors who wrote these books — even though they will never read this — for having created such lively characters and an alternative world where I could fall back into whenever I so desired. I couldn’t be the reader I am today if it hadn’t been for these works of fiction.
