The Sunshine Blogger Award ๐ŸŒž

Hello, friends! Today I’m posting much later than usual, but I’ve had a really great Saturday, so I’m not beating myself up over it. Yesterday, Sofii @ A Book a Thought (one of the nicest people I have met while blogging) tagged me in the Sunshine Blogger Award, and so I’m doing it!!!

๐ŸŒž Questions from Sofii ๐ŸŒž

I love the questions Sofii came up with!!! They were a lot of fun to try and find books for!

๐ŸŒผ What book do you think would make the best video game? ๐ŸŒผ

I’m going with The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi. This book has a really amazing cast of character and an even cooler setting. I feel like solving the puzzles and theiving around in 19th-century Paris would be absolutely amazing. Even though this novel wasn’t my favorite, I’d still play the videogame!

๐ŸŒผ What was the first book you ever bought? ๐ŸŒผ

Oh man this is such a hard question! The first book series I remember buying a lot was Geronimo Stilton: Secret Agent. I devoured this series growing up, but I haven’t really heard anyone else talking about it. It’s all about Geronimo Stilton, a mouse journalist (who is also the biggest wimp), solving crimes. IT WAS AWESOME!

๐ŸŒผ Let’s be honest: what is a series you know you will never finish? ๐ŸŒผ

Any Shadow Hunter series by Cassandra Clare!!! I loved The Infernal Devices but I really did not like The Mortal Instruments one. It felt so long and I just ended up losing interest. So knowing that there are a bunch more books out set in the same world is just… not for me.

๐ŸŒผ Have you ever read a book in another language? ๐ŸŒผ

My mother tongue is Portuguese, so I’ve obviously read hundreds of books in Portuguese. Other than that (and English), I have never read a full book in another language! But just you wait… I really want to become fluent in Spanish, so I’m going to pick up a Spanish-language book in the near future. Recommendations more than welcomed!

๐ŸŒผ Have you had any impulsive bookish purchases and then regretted it? ๐ŸŒผ

I hate spending money. I have to convince myself to spend money because I did something good lately. So fortunately I don’t impulsively buy many books! Most of the books I read are ebooks and I get them from the library.
BUT! I can say that I am a sucker for all the Penguin Classic editions. I go crazy and buy books I don’t want to read right that instant just because of how stunning they are!!! One time, I even bought a book as a duplicate without even knowing โ€” and I still haven’t read it…

๐ŸŒผ What do you think is the best solution for a reading slump? ๐ŸŒผ

I’m in a reading slump right now (SAVE ME!) so I wish I knew the solution. But I think that just waiting it out and trying a chapter here and there of several books helps. That and trying to not think of reading as a competition or an activity with goals.

๐ŸŒผ Who is your favorite bookish character of all time? ๐ŸŒผ

THIS IS SO HARD!!! I really like Kvothe from The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. He is such a strong and stubborn character with a mysterious background. I mean… How could you not love him?

๐ŸŒผ Which book does everyone love but you hate/don’t like? ๐ŸŒผ

The Vegetarian by Han Kang seems to be loved by everyone. But I just can’t find it in my heart to like it… Maybe I read it at the wrong point of my life or maybe the English translation I read wasn’t the best, I just would rather forget I ever read that book.

๐ŸŒผ Just your opinion: what is the worst book out there? ๐ŸŒผ

Colleen Hoover is one of my least favorite writers. And her book Maybe Someday is probably the worst book I have ever read. It is obnoxious, sexist, and a big ol’ melodramatic mess. Now, that book has a 4.13-star rating, so I’m clearly in the minority here.

๐ŸŒผ If you could only read one author forever, who would that be? ๐ŸŒผ

I have to go with the most Rita answer ever: Rainbow Rowell. She is such a skilled writer with a KNACK for writing AMAZING couples! I could live off of any romance or contemporary novel she has to write.

๐ŸŒผ Do you think you have any weird habits when reading? Or something that only you do? ๐ŸŒผ

I actually don’t have a great answer for this! I’m pretty average (*cries*) but I guess I’d have to say that I don’t focus well when I’m reading physical books. Ebooks and I are forever buddies!

๐ŸŒž My Questions ๐ŸŒž

  • Have you ever read a book set in the place where you live?
  • Do you often read translated books (that is, a book not originally written in English and/or your mother tongue)?
  • What is your favorite book trope?
  • What genre will you *never* read?
  • Where do you get your books from?
  • Have you ever borrowed a book to a friend and then not gotten it back?
  • What stories/books did you grow up reading?
  • Be candid: what’s your most controversial book opinion?
  • Do you tend to read more female or male writers?
  • What is a fictional world you NEVER want to visit?
  • Choose a character to switch places with for a week!

๐ŸŒž T a g g i n g ๐ŸŒž

It’s so hard to tag people! If you’ve already done this tag (or if my questions aren’t that interesting), that’s okay โ€” you don’t need to do it!!! But even if I didn’t tag you and you want to answer my questions, be my gest!

  1. OMG, I LOVE your answers, you’re so incredible and I love your blog so much ๐Ÿ’•
I need to read The Gilded Wolves, it sounds VERY good!
Well, as you should know my mother language is Spanish so I recommend a book that’s easy to read if you’re just starting, it is a fantasy/paranormal and is one of my favorite books is called El Encanto del Cuervo by Maria Martinez and also I recommend that if you have the possibility, would be great if you read a book that you have already read but in its Spanish version, it will be easier to understand ๐Ÿ˜Š
I hope you’re having an incredible month and thanks for making the tag, I loved it! ๐Ÿ˜

  2. Thank you so much for the tag! We can’t wait to do it! I also love your answers! I agree with so many of them! I adored Geronimo Stilton growing up! Those books were so colorful and inviting! And I haven’t read Gilded Wolves yet, and to be honest at this point I’m a little nervous. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  3. Ah I loved reading your answers for this one SO much! I agree that The Gilded Wolves would make an incredible video game, I’d play that one, too ๐Ÿ™‚ and I need to read more of Rainbow Rowell’s books, you make me feel like I’m missing out a lot haha ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Thank you for tagging me! ๐Ÿ™‚ haha, I wish I had ever really read a book set where I live that wasn’t written by a local person. Books just don’t get written about this place! Too small I guess. And I guess I never read erotica, cause it’s just not for me. I mostly get my books from NetGalley and Edelweiss, to be honest xD and I’ve definitely not gotten back some books I loaned to friends :/ the worst bit is I don’t remember where one of them even is! And hell, I would never want to visit any world from any dystopia xD
